Footnotes:
- My assessment of industry norms is an opinion backed by decades of experience. Naturally, there are those who disagree.
- Most in this trade haven’t been to a real trade school. Most haven’t even been trained by someone who has. The state doesn’t require it.
- Some highly rated contractors pretend they’re state licensed by showing their city license. Others dodge the license by working cheap.
- California contractors aren’t required to have liability insurance. All they’re required to have is a surprisingly cheap bond.
- A contractor who is serious about service sends full-size trucks. Those cute little minivans just can’t carry very many parts.
